Tibi Perfection

A certain maxi dress image has been doing the rounds on pinterest and tumblr and I have finally found out where it was from. Thank goodness as I love the lilac, pink and minty tones!  I also worked out that it is in fact a maxi skirt and camisole, but also available some other dress styles.

Simply gorgeous stuff from Tibi.  I shall stalk this skirt until it goes on sale! :)

I love those colours so much that I also stalked some interior spaces.  This darkish lilac stairwell is just stunning!

What a weekend!

I am still in recovery mode from the weekend after a charity swim on Friday night.  Each year my work hosts and we participate in the MS Megaswim, a 24 hour swim event to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis sufferers.  This year, I swam the 6pm-midnight shift with three colleagues and a friend.  You have to ensure that there is someone swimming at all times throughout the 24 hours, and our team did about 16km in 6 hours, pretty happy with that effort! Needless to say I feel as though it wrote off the whole weekend. It was a lovely balmy summer evening in Melbourne which made it quite enjoyable!

Overall the event raises over $300,000 for the MS Society!

Our team!

The pool before the event, looking lovely!

Also, the Oscars JUST happened.  I might post a few dress images, but I just had to post Emma Stone's look first.  Perfect, just perfect!

Does she ever get it wrong?

Harpers Bazaar fashion editor Christine Centenera, is perfection in my eyes!

Plus this gal has talent.  Currently Kanye's style muse, she styled the Dion Lee show at London Fashion week, while Kanye designed the shoes.  Wow.

Love these looks from the recent European shows:

Dress finds

It is my cousins wedding in just under two months which means I am really getting a wriggle on deciding on something to wear.  I found these two great dresses whilst browsing online recently.  They are both Topshop, which means they are very reasonably priced :)

Topshop 125 poundsTopshop 46 pounds

I think I will go for colour, the sparkle one may be a little bit over the top for me, but they are both lovely dresses!  Paired with some gold accessories and nude coloured shoes- perfect!

Taking a chance

Two of my friends have taken a massive leap of faith and have upped ship from Melbourne and moved to the remote Tiwi Islands.  The Tiwi Islands are made up of Bathurst and Melville Islands, just north of the Northern Territory.  They are taking up a post to manage their leisure facilities, all whilst teaching a local couple the skills to do it on their own.

My friends Katie and Warwick

This is an amazingly brave decision as the Tiwi Islands are so remote and so removed from Australia, despite being a short boat/plane trip from the mainland.  There are crocodiles, snakes and barely any internet.  Food comes once a week by boat, so you have to have your shopping list well planned!

On a more serious note, there is a high incidence of youth suicide on the Islands and sadly the Tiwi Islands had the highest rate of suicide in the world between 2000-2005. I am certain that by giving the young people access to leisure activities and a sense of belonging, they will make a real difference to their lives and to the community as a  whole.

Its these kinds of leaps of faith that have you wondering if we are making the most of our lives.  After reading Julia from the Urban Slants' wonderful blog posts on taking a leap of faith, I am really thinking about what I am doing with my life and if I am truly happy, or making the most of opportunities.  Whilst I am not too keen on moving all the way to a remote community (no internet, wow!!), I am certainly re-assessing a lot of things.

Do you think we become too complacent and comfortable?  Have you ever taken a leap of faith?

A bit of celeb home eye-candy

Architecural Digest have given us a sneaky peak into the homes of Brooke Shields and Diane Von Furstenberg.

First up, Brooke's Greenwich Village Apartment.  I am loving that lucite base coffee table!

Loving the fireplace in the kitchen- super cosy in a NY winter.

Now for Diane's fabulous Manhattan penthouse, situated atop her showroom in the meatpacking district.

An eclectic dream

The master suit. Wow.  Just wow.

Fun Run

I just signed up for the annual Run for the Kids fun run on the 1st of April!  Last year I couldn't run in it due to injury, and it is one of my favourite fun runs.  It also raises money for the Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday appeal, so it's a great cause as well as a reason to get in better running shape!  I have elected to go in the 14.38km course which means some serious training will be happening over the new couple of months!

And with serious training comes the need to get some cute new shoes.  We have a little unofficial competition at my work for loud and colourful shoes and this is certainly reflected in my choices below!

1. Nike Lunar Racer Plus
2. Asics Gel Blur
3. Adidas adiZero F50
4. Saucony ProGrid
(my current favourites for general gym work/classes)
5. Nike Free
6. Saucony ProGrid Kinvara
All available here

**international shipping tip**
There are shipping restrictions to Australia on some footwear purchased from the US as the items are significantly cheaper from US retailers.  I use hopshopgo.com to freight my shoes, its reliable, easy to use and still saves you a lot of money :)

Happy Saturday

Happy Saturday everyone!  Yesterday was my birthday, but as I had to work I have decided today is my birthday-day.  So far I have worked hard at the gym, opened my latest glossybox, watched a marathon of Revenge (my new favourite show) and baked a cake for my get together tonight (i baked my own because I received a Kitchenaid hand mixer for my birthday and wanted to try it out!).

I have also had a quick look at today's headlines and stumbled upon this beautiful image of Emma Watson at a pre- Bafta's party last night in London.  She is wearing Valentino and looks amazing.
